To start the year, Transition Together hosted an online webinar in which Transition co-founder Rob Hopkins gave the first sneak peek of his forthcoming book ‘How to Fall in Love with the Future: a time traveller’s guide to changing the world‘.
About 150 people joined the call from across the world, and a fascinating deep dive into time travel, ‘temporal fluidity’, the power of longing, why beavers are so wonderful, the need to uncancel the future and much more then ensued.
“The worry when you write a new book like this”, Rob told everyone, “is that people will think ‘well I was with him up until now, but with this book he’s lost me completely. What is he on about?” The evening allayed those fears, with the ideas presented very positively received by those attending. Here is the video of the talk:
‘How to Fall in Love with the Future’ will be published by Chelsea Green Publishing in May 2025. Around the same time, ‘Field Recordings from the Future‘, a music project and touring live installation/performance/immersive time portal will also be released.
Rob is also working with Belgian cartoonist Thomas Liera to create a comic book about Rob and music artist Mr Kit’s time travels to 2030 to collect those field recordings. We were delighted Thomas joined the call and drew this live sketch as he listened.
